MeT dept issues warning of dust storm across north India

The MeT department has issued a warning of dust storm across large parts of north India, including Delhi for the next 72 hours. The national capital was hit by a dust storm in the early hours today. 

According to the latest warning, thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds with speed of 50 to 70 kms is very likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. 

Similar predictions have been made for tomorrow at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Police said an 18-year-old man was killed and 13 people injured in the dust storm that hit Delhi this morning. The Police Control Room received 78 calls during the storm that started around 3 AM.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in the morning was recorded at 25 degrees Celsius. Light rain or drizzle is expected towards the evening.
