PM Modi launches fortnight-long ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ Movement in New Delhi

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched the fortnight-long Swachhata Hi Sewa Movement in New Delhi through video conferencing. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said, cleanliness is a habit that needs to be included in the daily routine. He said, the cleanliness movement that started four years ago has now reached a crucial stage.

He said, no one had imagined more than  4.5 lakh villages, 450 districts,and 20 states and Union Territories will be free from open defecation in 4 years and about ninety million toilets will be built. He said, it is the strength of India and Indians. 

The Prime Minister said, every sect of the nation and persons of every age have been associated with the campaign. Mr Modi mentioned that due to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan the cases of diarrhoea have decreased considerably. He said,

 disposal of the garbage is very important and waste management has to be made more effective,  the Government is making serious efforts towards Waste to Wealth initiative.
